GEORGETOWN COUNTY, SC (WMBF) – A boating accident on Sandy Island on the Intracoastal Waterway has injured one person.

The South Carolina Department of Natural Resources said officers and investigators responded to Sandy Island in Georgetown County for a boating accident on the Intracoastal Waterway near the island.

The accident involved a single bass boat with one person on board who had been injured.

Officials are asking to avoid the Sandy Island boat ramp to allow EMS officers and personnel to assist.
