Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI-P)-backed Pramono Anung-Rano Karno Jakarta gubernatorial candidate pair look set to sweep Jakarta race in one round, new poll suggests, duo widens lead by rival Ridwan Kamil-Suswono’s ticket, backed by President Prabowo Subianto’s Onward Indonesia (KIM) Coalition.

A recent survey published by the Saiful Mujani Research and Consulting (SMRC) poll conducted between October 31 and November 9 found that the Pramono-Rano pair had 46% of voter support, 6.9 percentage points ahead of the Ridwan-Suswono pair, which had 39.1 percent.

The poll, which surveyed 1,200 voters in Jakarta and had a margin of error of 2.9 percent, attributed the role of Pramono-Rano to the popularity of actor-turned-politician Rano, who starred in the popular Betawi-centric soap opera of the 1990s 1990. And Doel Anak Sekolan.

The Betawi people are the native inhabitants of Greater Jakarta.

The survey found that 93 percent of Jakartans were familiar with the former Banten governor, who used the name Si Doel in the campaign.
