GPBCH President Neil Goldfarb presents the 2024 Mental Health Summit

The future Greater Philadelphia Business Coalition on Health (GPBCH) 2024 Mental Health Summit aims to address the growing recognition among employers of the critical role mental health plays in workplace productivity and overall well-being, according to GPBCH President and CEO Neil Goldfarb.

Over the past decade, workplace culture has shifted from a focus primarily on physical health to a more holistic view of well-being, including mental health. Employers now understand that addressing mental health issues such as depression and anxiety can reduce direct and indirect costs while encouraging a healthier and more productive workforce. However, many still struggle with effectively implementing strategies that create a supportive culture and leverage existing resources, such as employee assistance programs (EAPs). This summit aims to provide practical solutions and tools to address these challenges.

The event will feature a 3-part agenda designed to guide employers through understanding the mental health needs of their workforce, building a culture around wellness and exploring innovative treatment approaches. The program includes sessions on generational differences in mental health needs, the role of coaching and peer support, and advances such as digital therapy and psychedelics.

The one-day meeting will conclude with a panel of employers sharing their experiences, challenges and best practices. Participants will leave with actionable strategies to improve mental health support in the workplace, often by maximizing existing resources in innovative ways.
