Investigators report that a number of valuables were stolen during the incident, including gold jewelry, an undisclosed amount of cash in both Canadian shillings and US dollars, and four laptops belonging to the family.

Detectives from the Criminal Investigation Branch are actively pursuing a suspect in connection with a violent robbery at Ushirika Tower in Eastleigh.

The suspect, caught on CCTV, broke into the building using a hammer.

According to a statement issued by the DCI on Sunday, the attacker, believed to be a Ugandan national, gained access to a sixth-floor apartment with the assistance of a domestic helper named Everlyne, who is also a Ugandan national.

“Upon entry, the assailant severely assaulted a 20-year-old Somali domestic helper named Hakimo Muhidin with the assistance of Everlyne,” the DCI statement said.

Investigators report that a number of valuables were stolen during the incident, including gold jewelry, an undisclosed amount of cash in both Canadian shillings and US dollars, and four laptops belonging to the family.

The victim, Hakimo Muhidin, suffered serious injuries, including a broken tooth and trauma to his hand, head and legs.

The DCI also indicated that she showed signs of being whipped, with visible marks on her back.

“After receiving medical treatment she was discharged and is currently recovering at a relative’s home in the Tassia estate area,” detectives added.

Authorities are also looking for the accomplice, who joined the household just three weeks before the incident and managed to escape with the attacker.

At the time of the robbery, the tenant, a Somali man, was not at home, he was with his children, while his wife was in India for medical treatment.
