US election updates: House Speaker advises ‘strongly’ against releasing ethics report on Gaetz

As we reported, President-elect Donald Trump made a number of cabinet picks ahead of his inauguration in January.

Some of the key choices include:

secretary of health: Former independent presidential candidate and vaccine skeptic Robert F. Kennedy Jr.

secretary of veterans affairs: Former Congressman from Georgia Doug Collinswho served in Iraq with the US Air Force.

Director of National Intelligence: Former congresswoman Tulsi Gabbardwho once ran for president as a Democrat in 2020, has been tapped for the role.

the secretary of defense: Army veteran and Fox News host Pete Hegseth. He is also the former head of two advocacy groups for military veterans.

secretary of state: Senator from Florida Marco Rubio. He opposed Trump in the 2016 Republican primary, but has since mended fences.

Attorney General: Congressman from Florida Matt Gaetz. Some Senate Republicans have already signaled their opposition to his nomination.

National Security Advisor: Congressman from Florida Mike Waltzwho previously served 27 years in the US Army and National Guard.

Homeland Security: Governor of South Dakota Kristi Noem. ItEarlier, she was cast as Trump after she told a story about how she killed her pet dog.

Border King: Former acting director of US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) during Trump’s first term, Tom Homan.

Department for Government Efficiency: Billionaire entrepreneur Elon Musk and one-time presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy will lead the new department.

Chief of Staff: Trump’s campaign co-chair, Susie Wiles, who has been called “the ice face” by the president-elect.

There are still key cabinet posts that have yet to be filled, including secretaries for the treasury, education, transport and more.
