Cold case victim’s children face man accused of killing their mother in court

ROCHESTER, NY (WHAM) – On November 12th, Victoria Jobson would have celebrated her 63rd birthday.

Instead, her children sat in a courtroom in Monroe County, New York, facing one of the two men accused of killing their mother.

“I can’t,” Kurtis Jobson replied when asked to describe his mother. “I can’t step outside other people’s stories or images or memories.”

Victoria Jobson was reported missing in October 1992 by her family.

“He was robbed. He was just a little boy,” Keisha Washington, Victoria Jobson’s daughter, said of her brother. “He was only 5 years old when his mother was killed.”

Victoria Jobson, a mother of two who was 30 years old at the time, was reported missing in October 1992 by her family.

Her body was found a few weeks later, on December 7, in a vacant field on Rutter Street.

Nearly 32 years later, Arthur Jason Jr., 59, and a second unidentified suspect were charged with Victoria Jobson’s murder.

“We need to figure out exactly how they came into contact with Mr. Jason,” said defense attorney Michael Schiano. “Obviously they talked to him in 2006 and 2009 and again they didn’t arrest him then and now 20 years later they did.”

Schiano is the attorney assigned to represent Jason.

“In the early stages, we want to take a look at all the evidence and see exactly how they came to the conclusion to arrest Mr. Jason,” Schiano added.

As for the second suspect, the unidentified man is still in custody in Canada. Authorities are working to bring him back to Rochester.

Meanwhile, Victoria Jobson’s children have a heartfelt message for their mother.

“It’s no coincidence that we’re sitting in court on her birthday,” Washington said. “Happy birthday, mom. We’re fine.”
