Drivers urged to use caution as crews clear I-49 collision scene

RAYMORE, Mo. (KCTV) – Motorists were urged to use caution while driving along northbound I-49 near Raymore as emergency crews continue to clear the scene of multiple collisions.

The Cass County, Missouri Sheriff’s Office says emergency crews were called to the area of I-49 and N. Cass Pkwy on Thursday, November 14th just after 4:05 p.m. with reports of a 2 vehicle collision.

When first responders arrived, they said they found both vehicles blocking the northbound lane of the freeway. Two people were transported to a nearby hospital with injuries. Their conditions remain unknown.

Emergency vehicles are expected to remain along the shoulder until both vehicles are completely cleared.

Around 6 p.m., the Sheriff’s Office said emergency crews were called to the scene of a second collision just south of N. Cass Pkwy. This time, three vehicles were involved and a second closure was required to clear the scene. Traffic was congested on one lane through the area.

Motorists were once again asked to avoid the area.
