LOS ANGELES – A child was found dead on a sidewalk downtown Los Angeles.

The Los Angeles Police Department answered a call to Skid Row in the 500 block of South San Pedro Street. The police found the child, but did not find the child’s parents.

The LAPD believes the child may have been thrown from the fourth floor of a building from a bathroom window.

A woman has since been taken into custody in connection with the child’s death, the LAPD said. Officials did not specify the woman’s relationship to the child.
