3 more teens arrested as Cleveland police crack down on car break-ins

CLEVELAND, Ohio (WOIO) – Cleveland Police have made another set of arrests related to car burglaries.

Three teenagers are now behind bars and facing felony charges after targeting cars near the West Side Market.

Police from the Second and Third Districts conducted an operation on Nov. 13 as part of an ongoing investigation into a series of vehicle break-ins in Ohio City, Battery Park and the area of ​​West 25th and Shoreway.

Around 11:30 p.m., officers were notified that vehicles had been broken into in the 1900 block of West 25th Street.

Police arrived on scene and saw an orange Kia in the area that had been reported stolen on November 8th.

Officers attempted a traffic stop, but the vehicle took off and stopped at a gas station at East 105th Street and St. Clair Ave.

The police arrested a 14-year-old male suspect who had entered the station. A firearm was also found and seized.

While making the arrest, police say a passenger in the Kia moved into the driver’s seat and reversed the car, striking a detective’s vehicle. Fortunately, no one was injured.

The two suspects still inside the Kia, a second 14-year-old boy and a 16-year-old boy, tried to run but were arrested a short time later.

Officers searched the vehicle and found several stolen credit cards and other stolen items, along with three bullet holes in the window, two loaded magazines, a holster and a second firearm.

The teenagers were arrested on charges of felonious assault, felony hit and run, eluding, failure to comply; and criminal damage/motor vehicle and weapons offences.
