Marblehead football was allowed to play tournament play during the teachers’ strike

Students at Marblehead High School will be able to participate in extracurricular activities as scheduled starting Thursday, reversing a decision made earlier in the week by Superintendent John Robidoux that initially canceled all events during the current work stoppage by members of the Marblehead Education Association.

“After taking the time to do my due diligence and meet with the athletic director and our administrative team, we determined that we could fairly and safely allow the high school’s athletic and extracurricular activities to take place as they were scheduled this weekend,” Robidoux said in a release. “We will use non-teaching, non-union staff to support these activities and appreciate their assistance in ensuring student participation.”
