Convicted child pornographer gets 120 days in jail

JONESBORO, Ark. (KAIT) – A Jonesboro man has been sentenced to 120 days in jail after pleading guilty to possession of child sexual abuse material.

On Tuesday, Joshua D. Tippitt, 35, entered a plea bargain to one count of distributing, possessing or viewing material depicting sexually explicit conduct involving a child.

He was originally arrested on 30 counts of child sexual abuse and drug possession. Those charges were dropped.

In exchange for his plea, Second Judicial Circuit Judge Scott Ellington sentenced Tippitt to 120 days in the Poinsett County Jail with credit for one day served.

Ellington also sentenced Tippitt to 60 months of probation and ordered him to pay $1,190 in court costs and fees in monthly installments of $75.

Tippitt must register as a sex offender.

Jonesboro police arrested Tippitt in March 2022 after receiving a cyber tip from Arkansas State Police about an email address that was sending 19 videos of young girls, ages 6 to 13, performing various sexual acts with men.

According to the affidavit, when officers went to his home on Flatrock Trail to serve a search warrant, they found hallucinogenic mushrooms in a bag and a plastic tub filled with more mushrooms growing inside.
