HORRY COUNTY, SC (WMBF) – The Horry County Police Department is “not emu-sed” about a recent sighting.

The agency said it was aware of emu on the loose in the Green Sea area. HCPD is working with the emu’s owner to find and capture the animals.

WMBF News viewers saw the emus on Wednesday.

Joey Mincey shot a video of one of them, saying in the video, “You never know what you’re going to see in Duford,” which is a community near Green Sea.

Taylor Brown spotted an emu along Tulip Grove Road in Green Sea. She was picking up her children from Green Sea Floyds Elementary when they saw the bird.

Police said the emus do not pose a risk to the community.

Emus are large, flightless birds known for being strong runners and swimmers.
