The principal, Srinivas, was suspended for dereliction of duty which led to the hospitalization of the students on October 30 and 31.

Kumram Bheem Asifabad: The director of a Ashram-Wankidi School was suspended following the hospitalization of 64 students. An order to this effect was issued by the Integrated Tribal Development Officer (ITDA)-Project Officer Utnoor Khusbu Gupta Thursday.

The principal, Srinivas, was suspended for dereliction of duty that led to the hospitalization of the students on October 30 and 31. Action was initiated against the principal based on the findings of a committee formed to investigate the food position due to which 64 students were vomiting. and diarrhea.

On Tuesday, five employees of the school, including Principal Srinivas, were transferred. While Srinvas was transferred to a school in Kaghaznagar, Nurse Midwife (NM) Sevantha, cook Harikishan, workers Kamala and Pentaiah were transferred to different schools in the district.

On October 30, around 50 students fell ill after having dinner at the hostel. Fifteen more students were hospitalized the next day.

A total of 63 students were discharged, but the medical condition of Class 9 student Shailaja was learned to be still critical. She is undergoing treatment at NIMS-Hyderabad.
