As with any home technology purchase, you’ll want to choose what features are important to you and what your home requirements are before you hit the buy button. Here’s what you need to know as we get to these Black Friday deals.

Battery vs cable

If you are already well versed in the world of video doorbells and have installed a few in an easily accessible location, then a wired video doorbell is not a problem for you. However, if you need to put your video doorbell in a place where no power, you’ll want to look for battery-operated models.

Field of view

It is important to consider the area you want to capture with your doorbell video camera. Newer models have a more vertical or square field of view, which means you won’t see as far from side to side, although you will see things closer to the door’s legs, which is ideal for viewing package deliveries .

Packet detection

Speaking of package deliveries – not all models have package detection as a feature, so if this is important to you, make sure it’s specifically mentioned, such as Ring Video Doorbell Pro 2, Ring Battery Doorbell Plus and Ring Video Doorbell (2020) – although this will usually require a subscription. The Wyze Video Doorbell Pro and Arlo Video Doorbell 2K also offer packet detection, however the Blink Video Doorbell does not.
