TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) – A Tallahassee man is facing charges in connection with the death of his 6-year-old son, according to recent court records.

Xavier Peterson, 35, was arrested Tuesday and charged with aggravated manslaughter of a child and child neglect resulting in serious bodily injury, according to the Leon County Clerk’s website.

Peterson’s charges are related to the June death of his youngest child, a 6-year-old boy, according to arrest documents. Newspapers say the boy was severely malnourished.

In addition, court records say Peterson’s 7-year-old daughter was also found to be severely malnourished. She and her four surviving siblings are still alive, records say.

A judge denied the 35-year-old Tallahassee bond during his first court appearance Wednesday. He was also ordered to have no contact with the children until the Department of Children and Families completes its investigation.

He is scheduled to return to court Friday for a motion hearing, according to the court clerk’s website.
