Johnstown Detached Garage Fire Causes Roof to Collapse; uninjured owner

Cambria County officials say a detached garage located along the 200 block of Strayer Street caught fire early Wednesday morning, causing severe structural damage, including a partial roof collapse.

Emergency officials say the fire was first reported around 8:15 a.m. by West End EMS, who noticed smoke coming from the property while returning from another call.

First responders arrived to find the garage fully engulfed, with flames quickly spreading through the roof of the structure.

The homeowner, who was inside the nearby residence and reportedly asleep at the time, escaped unharmed as no injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire remains unknown and an investigation is ongoing. Emergency crews are working to secure the area and determine what may have ignited the flames.
