PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — A 68-year-old Beaverton man charged with sexually assaulting homeless people is “strongly” suspected of assaulting other women, the Washington County Sheriff’s Office said.

The investigation into Ronald Burchett began in June when a person told authorities she had been sexually assaulted. In October, another person made a similar allegation. Both were homeless and said Burchett offered to help them.

Investigators said Burchett “specifically targeted women who do not have stable housing” and believe there are other women who have been victimized.

Burchett was indicted by a grand jury on Nov. 7 and arrested the next day, officials said. He is being held in the Washington County Jail on charges of unlawful sexual penetration and sexual abuse.
