Police officers have come to the rescue of a young swan who is ruffling the feathers of motorists as she wandered down a busy 96km/h road.

PC Walker and Bowers glided in their police car to Warren Lane in Stanway, on the outskirts of Colchester, on Friday to capture the adventurous animal.

He was taken to a nearby vet for checks before being released to a suitable location.
