India has witnessed some of the most shocking and heart-breaking instances of sexual violence in recent years. Cases such as the Nirbhaya gang rape in Delhi in 2012, the Kathua case in 2018, the Hathras case in 2020, and the recent RG Kar Medical College incident in West Bengal serve as stark reminders of the pervasive and persistent nature of sexual crimes against women and children. As a society, if we cannot safeguard our women from such heinous crimes, it is only logical to fear for the safety of our children, who are often more vulnerable and less capable of defending themselves.
