A man armed with a machete and a handgun robbed two stores in East Boston on Nov. 2, police said in a statement Tuesday.

Boston Police said the first robbery occurred at 9:48 p.m. at the East Boston Corner Market, located at 83 Bennington St. The second happened minutes later at the East Coast Variety store, 223 London St., police said.

Boston Police are asking for the public’s help in locating the suspect.

“Caution: The suspect involved in these recent robberies was armed with both a machete and a firearm,” police said. “If you see this individual, do not approach. Instead, call 911 immediately.”

In the images shared by the department, the suspect is wearing a down jacket with a Honda logo on it, blue gloves and a silver watch. Police said he can speak both English and Spanish.

While an investigation into the robberies is ongoing, police are asking anyone with information to contact District A-7 Detectives at (617) 343-4234. “The Boston Police Department will protect and strictly protect the identities of anyone who wishes to assist this investigation anonymously,” the statement said.
