The paper said both countries welcomed Trump’s more confrontational approach to Iran during his first term, but are now increasingly aware of their vulnerability to Iranian hostility and are keen to avoid further tensions. A senior Arab diplomat is quoted as saying: “If Trump puts you in a situation where you have to make a decision, because he’s going against Iran, that’s a big problem.”
