A teacher accused of child abuse at a Tulare County school has been arrested

A Porterville school teacher has been arrested following an investigation into an alleged child abuse incident that occurred last month at a school in the Burton School District in Porterville.

The Porterville Police Department began the investigation after receiving a report of suspected child abuse from Child Protective Services on Oct. 24.

The report accused the teacher, Paige Boyd, of pushing a student to the ground.

Responding detectives gathered evidence, which led to an arrest warrant for child abuse and endangerment.

Detectives secured the warrant at Boyd’s Porterville residence and took her into custody.

She was booked into the Tulare County Sheriff’s Office, South County Detention Center and later released on $25,000 bond.

The case has been forwarded to the Tulare County Prosecutor’s Office for review.

The Porterville Police Department emphasized that student safety and the integrity of the educational environment remain top priorities.

The investigation is ongoing.
