FEMA has been exposed for avoiding homes with Trump signs

Marn’i Washington, a Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) supervisor who was fired for ordering Florida Hurricane Milton relief workers to skip houses with signs expressing support for President-elect Donald Trump , rejected the agency’s claims that her case. it was an “isolated” incident.

During one interview alongside Roland Martin on his “Roland Martin Unfiltered” show, Washington argued that her instructions to hurricane relief workers to “avoid houses that advertise Trump” stemmed from a widespread FEMA policy of to avoid “politically hostile” houses. Washington said that while FEMA claimed to have acted independently, it actually followed the organization’s standard policy.

“FEMA always preaches avoidance first and then de-escalation, so this is not isolated,” Washington told Martin. “This is a colossal avoidance event not just in the state of Florida, but you’ll find avoidance in the Carolinas.”

Washington added: “Senior management will lie to you and say they don’t know.”

Following The Daily Wire report that Washington directed employees both verbally and in a group chat to avoid the homes of Trump supporters, a FEMA spokesperson told The Daily Wire that Washington was fired for her actions. The spokesman described it as an “isolated incident” that was not approved by the agency.

The FEMA spokesperson added, “The employee who issued this guidance had no authority and was given no direction to tell crews to avoid these homes, and we are reaching out to people who may not have been contacted as a result of this incident”.

While FEMA described Washington’s actions as an “isolated incident,” the former FEMA supervisor told Martin that a review of the agency’s incident reports would show employees avoiding certain homes because of “political hostility.” Washington claimed there was a “community trend” of “hostility” seen by Trump supporters in Lake Placid, Florida.

According to Washington, some people with Trump signs or flags at their residences showed “hostility” saying, “I don’t like FEMA,” “You’re lying to the people,” “You’re not helping the people,” and “You’re part of the Biden-Harris campaign.”

Dismissing the agency’s claims, Washington said, “FEMA is very aware of the incidents that are occurring, not just with my crew, but with all crews across the states.”

During the interview with Martin, Washington claimed that her FEMA supervisors supported her decision to avoid surveying homes on certain streets in Florida. In response to a message explaining that a street was “politically hostile” and that the FEMA team was “not investigating this street further,” the Washington supervisor said, “Great decision. Thanks for the update.”
