BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) — A 16-year-old boy has been arrested after he was accused of breaking into a vehicle in connection with several thefts in Bear Valley.

The Bear Valley Police Department said on the evening of November 9, 2024, officers were called to a report of a suspicious person in the 29700 block of Jamaica Dunes Drive.

When the police arrived, they detained and identified a 16-year-old child, allegedly involved in a vehicle theft.

Police said during the investigation, officers allegedly found burglary tools and several stolen items on the teenager, linking them to previous thefts.

The 16-year-old from Bear Valley was also allegedly involved in vehicle theft and attempted motor vehicle theft.

Police said law enforcement is seeking criminal charges against the suspect for receiving stolen property and possession of burglary tools.

Bear Valley Police said they are in the process of notifying the rightful owners of the recovered property.

They are also working to determine whether the teen acted independently in the incidents.
