NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) – You might just love them.

You might hate them.

Regardless, if you’ve driven around Nashville recently, you’ve probably noticed the speed cushions.

They’re designed to slow drivers down, but we wanted to know how speed bags affect emergency responders who need to get to their destination as quickly as possible.

“If we hit that bump, it’s going to throw them off. It will throw the patient around,” Vol State paramedic instructor Cory Gibson said. “Sometimes they come overnight and send us no children to warn of them.”

Emergency responders showed WSMV4 firsthand how speed bumps affect them and their patients. Plus, what city officials have to say about it.
