Man charged with murder after woman’s body found in Penrith hotel room

A 53-year-old man was charged with murder by NSW police on Tuesday, two days after he was found with a woman’s body in a Penrith hotel room.

Emergency services were called to the Pullman Sydney on Mulgoa Road at around 1.10pm on Sunday after the body of a woman believed to be in her 50s was discovered in one of the rooms.

In the same room was the man in critical condition, suffering from cuts on his arms.

He was treated by paramedics before being airlifted to Westmead Hospital for further treatment.

Officers from Nepean Police Area Command established the crime scene and local detectives carried out an investigation with assistance from the State Homicide Crime Squad.

NSW Police said at the time that the two were acquaintances.

A spokesman for the hotel said it was “co-operating with the authorities and the NSW Police”.

On Tuesday, following investigations, the 53-year-old man was charged with murder.

He was refused bail at a bedside court and is due to appear in Penrith Local Court on Wednesday.
