A new challenge course dedicated to the late Des Moines Veteran will open Tuesday

“I’m always aware of my surroundings at all times, I’ll make sure I know who’s in the bathroom and who’s not,” said Sebastian Rogelio, a part-time employee at Git N Go. “You have to be prepared for whatever they think and conform to what they want, you know? Because at the end of the day it’s not worth it, it’s not worth your life. It’s sad what this generation has come to, you know, people don’t want to work, they just want to come and steal from other people who are actually working, you know? We have nothing to do with your problems but you want to come and start other problems here. Like I go to work every day, I’m not here to steal. If I could do it, they could.”

Rogelio pointed out that he likes working nights at the store, his awareness just heightened by the events of the past week.

WHO 13 News has reached out to Git N Go store headquarters in Des Moines with a request for comment about the robberies and any directives they communicate to employees. A company spokesman had no comment on the killings.

The Des Moines Police Department continues to investigate all three robberies, and at this time there are no known connections between the three. The department is using security video footage in the investigation.
