Pearl River County Sheriff’s Department Assists With Apprehension After Covington Bar Fight – Picayune Article

The Pearl River County Sheriff’s Department is assisting with the apprehension following the Covington bar fight

An Oct. 19 bar fight at the Covington Beer Garden left a man with serious injuries, prompting an investigation by the Covington Police Department that led to the arrest of two people from Mississippi. The Pearl River County Sheriff’s Department assisted in the apprehension of the suspects, identified as Nikki Fuega, 28, and Nicholas Gonzales III, 26, both of Carriere, Mississippi.

Fuega faces a felony charge of second-degree aggravated battery under Louisiana Revised Statute 14:34.7, while Gonzales faces a felony charge of second-degree battery under LRS 14:34.1.

“We want visitors and residents to enjoy our facilities without fear of violence, and the Covington Police Department has a zero-tolerance policy for this behavior,” said Covington Police Chief Ferrell. “Senseless violence will not be tolerated in the city of Covington.”

The Covington Police Department expressed its gratitude to the Pearl River County Sheriff’s Department for its assistance in apprehending the suspects, emphasizing the importance of regional cooperation in law enforcement efforts.
