Chalamet also said he worked with dialect coach Tim Monich “for years” on the project after landing the role. She also worked with a harmonica coach, learning to play the instrument for five years, as well as a movement coach named Polly Bennett. “I actually got more out of just working on the script together than anything physical,” he said.

As if that wasn’t enough, Chalamet also embarked on a little journey – literally – to step into Bob Dylan’s shoes. “For my own gathering of spirits, for lack of a better metaphor, I retraced Bob’s steps through Chicago and Madison, Wisconsin. And I started in Hibbing, in Duluth. And I spent about a week where he is from Minnesota,” he said.

After years of preparation, filming for A complete stranger finally began in the spring of 2024, following delays caused by writers’ and actors’ strikes. Production ended before the summer. The official trailer for the film, which you can watch below, was released in October 2024.
