What we know about the massive Ukrainian drone attack on Russian regions – Military and Defense

MOSCOW, November 10. /TASS/. About 70 drones were shot down in six Russian regions on Sunday morning, with almost half of them over the Moscow region, the Russian Defense Ministry reported.

TASS gathered the key facts about the situation.

Drones target Moscow

– Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin reported the destruction of the first two drones targeting Moscow in the Ramenskoye municipal district at 8:37 Moscow time (5:37 GMT).

– Air defenses also destroyed drones in Domodedovo and Kolomna municipalities south-east of Moscow.

– The mayor said up to 32 drones targeting the Russian capital have been shot down.

– The Russian Ministry of Defense estimated the number of downed drones over the Moscow region at 34.

Damage caused by drone strikes in the Moscow region

– Two cars caught fire from falling debris in Sofyino of Ramenskoye municipal district.

– A 52-year-old woman was injured in the Moscow region in a drone attack that targeted the Russian capital. She was hospitalized with moderate burns to her face, neck and hands. She is currently in intensive care, Moscow Region Governor Andrey Vorobyev said.

Moscow airports resume their activity

– Domodedovo and Zhukovsky airports in southeastern Moscow suspended service at 8:03 a.m. Moscow time (5:03 GMT), Rosaviatsiya, Russia’s air transport regulator, said.

– Since 9:45 Moscow time (6:45 GMT), restrictions have been imposed on the operation of Sheremetyevo Airport in northwest Moscow and for safety reasons.

– So far, all restrictions on flight departures and arrivals at the three airports have been lifted.

– Up to 36 flights were diverted to alternative airports, while the operation of Moscow’s three airports was suspended.

Drones over several Russian regions

– Between 7:00 and 10:00 Moscow time (4:00 – 7:00 GMT), 70 Ukrainian unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) were intercepted and destroyed, including 34 over Moscow region, 14 over Bryansk region, seven over the Oryol region, seven over the Kaluga region, six over the Kursk region and two over the Tula region, the Ministry of Defense reported.

– Overnight, air defense shot down 23 Ukrainian UAVs in the skies over four Russian regions, the ministry said. Namely, 17 drones were shot down over the Bryansk region, three over the Rostov region, two over the Belgorod region and one over the Kursk region, the ministry said.
