A TEENAGER has died following a horror stabbing in Co Kildare.

The fatal incident happened on the R403 in Blackwood, near Robertstown, in the early hours of this morning at around 12.30am.

Guards said the vehicle involved in the crash did not remain at the scene.

The male was deadly was injured in the collision and his body was taken to Naas General Hospital mortuary.

Officers have confirmed that the R403 in Blackwood is currently closed between Graiges Cross and Dagwelds Cross.

A forensic examination of the scene will be carried out by Garda collision investigators.

Local diversions are in place and investigations are ongoing.

A garda spokesman said: “Gardaí are currently at the scene of a fatal road traffic collision which occurred in the early hours of this morning on Sunday 10 November 2024 in Robertstown, Co. Kildare.

“The collision, involving a vehicle and a pedestrian, happened on the R403 in Blackwood, near Robertstown, County Kildare, at approximately 12.30pm.

“The vehicle involved in the collision did not remain at the scene.

“Following the collision, the pedestrian (16 years old) was fatally injured.

“His body was removed from the scene to Naas General Hospital mortuary.

“The R403 in Blackwood is currently closed (between Graiges Cross and Dagwelds Cross) pending a forensic examination of the scene by Garda Forensic collision investigators. There are local diversions.”

Gardaí are appealing for any witnesses or road users with dashcam footage to contact them.

They can contact Naas Garda Station on 045 884 300, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111 or any Garda station.

The garda spokesman added: “Gardai are appealing for witnesses to come forward. All road users who were traveling in the vicinity of Blackwood and Robertstown at the time of the collision and who may have dash cam footage (including dashcam) are asked to contact Gardaí.

“Anyone with any information is asked to contact Naas Garda Station on 045 884 300, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111 or any Garda station.

“Investigations are ongoing.”
