Car crash knocks out power for nearly 800 Colorado Springs residents UPDATE; starting again

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colorado (KRDO) –

UPDATE at 17:41:

Electricity was restored to all residents.

Colorado Springs police told our photographer at the scene that the driver hit an “active switch” that caused the power to go out.

No one was taken to hospital as a result of the accident.

Colorado Springs Utilities says 795 homes are without power. Colorado Springs Police say they are responding to a car accident on N Academy Blvd where a truck crashed into a power pole and transformer and went into someone’s yard.

The outage occurred at 3:45 p.m. and CSU says it expects to have it fixed by 7:45 p.m.
