Man stabs mother over disagreement over emigration

A 31-year-old man allegedly stabbed his mother multiple times because she refused to finance his move to Canada. The incident took place in Molarband village in South East Delhi’s Badarpur area.

After killing his mother on the evening of November 6, the accused, Krishna Kant (31), called his father Surjeet Singh (52) and asked him to come home, police said. When Singh reached home, the accused apologized and asked him to go upstairs and see for himself what he had done, said Ravi Kumar Singh, Assistant Commissioner of Police (South East).

On reaching the first floor of the house, Singh found his wife Geeta lying in a pool of blood with multiple stab wounds on her body, he said, adding that during this time the accused managed to flee. Singh immediately rushed Geeta to Apollo Hospital, where she was declared brought dead, police said.

The DCP added that Singh has two sons. While his younger son Sahil Bholi (27) works in a bank, Kant was unemployed and addicted to drugs. “Both the sons are unmarried and at the time of the incident only Geeta and the accused were present at home,” Kumar added. Later, Kant was arrested from the same area and a case of murder was registered against him, the officer added.

During interrogation, he revealed that he wanted to immigrate to Canada, but his family wanted him to get married first. On the day of the murder, an argument broke out between mother and son and Kant ended up stabbing Geeta with a knife he had bought some time back, police said. The accused’s father is into property business and has an office located on Tanki Road in Jaitpur, the officer said.
