Victim identified in Wednesday’s fatal shooting in Camilla, GBI investigating

CAMILLA, Ga. (WALB) – A man has been pronounced dead following a shooting Wednesday, Oct. 30 in Camilla.

The shooting happened Wednesday afternoon at the intersection of Furlow Street and Jester Street.

The GBI identified the victim as Kelvin Church, 17, of Camilla.

Church was pronounced dead Tuesday, Nov. 5, at Grady Memorial Hospital in Atlanta, according to Mitchell County Coroner Jamey Thompson.

An autopsy will be performed at the GBI Crime Lab.

No arrests have been made so far, according to the GBI.

The investigation is active and ongoing.

Once the investigation is complete, the case will be turned over to the Georgia Southern District Attorney’s Office for protection, according to the GBI.
