Union City, NJ – Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez announced the arrest of Edgar Fernando-Gomez in connection with an investigation into sexual contact with a 6-year-old girl.

On Wednesday, authorities with the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit arrested Fernando-Gomez, a Union City resident, after the reported incident. Charges against him include sexual assault by contact and endangering the welfare of a child.

Fernando-Gomez, 48, was arrested at his home and is currently in the Hudson County Correctional Facility. The alleged incidents took place on May 19 in Jersey City, and the accused allegedly knew the victim.

Prosecutor Suarez acknowledged the efforts of the Special Victims Unit in the investigation and arrest. The public is urged to report any sex crimes to the bureau’s Special Victims Unit at 201-915-1234.
