California Attorney General Rob Bonta has pledged to protect undocumented immigrants, reproductive rights and environmental programs when President-elect Donald Trump takes office. In recent decades, state attorneys general have often challenged federal policies, especially those emanating from a president of an opposing party. During Trump’s first term, Democratic attorneys general have banded together to file lawsuits on issues such as immigration, the travel ban and environmental regulations.
