NOPD is investigating armed robberies in the French Quarter and Marigny

NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) – The New Orleans Police Department said it has a “strong suspicion” that a suspect committed four armed robberies in the French Quarter and Marigny Wednesday night (6/11).

The department reports that the armed robberies took place over the course of more than three hours and were within blocks of each other.

Investigators report it started around 7:23 pm on the 700 block of Governor Nicholls Street. A male suspect approached a man and a woman with guns.

He demanded jewelry and money, which the two provided before the suspect fled.

Minutes later, the suspect allegedly struck again at the nearby intersection of Esplanade Avenue and Royal Street.

The department reports that the suspect demanded that a third victim give him money. The victim gave him money and the suspect left again.

Around 10 p.m., about two hours after the second armed robbery, the suspect reportedly arrived in the 700 block of Frenchmen Street.

There, he approached a man with a gun and demanded the man’s chain before ripping it from his neck.

The man fought back, shielded his watch and forced the suspect to flee.

However, around 10:40 p.m., the suspect approached two men and two women and demanded money at gunpoint. One victim gave him money and ran away.

NOPD reports they are working to identify the suspect and locate him.
