Police, Board of Education investigate racist text messages sent to students

BLOOMFIELD, Conn. (WFSB) – Bloomfield Police and the Bloomfield Board of Education are investigating racist text messages sent to students.

The city of Bloomfield and the Bloomfield Board of Education released a joint statement saying they are aware of racist messages in the city.

“We understand that individuals across the country have received these hateful messages, and the City of Bloomfield and the Bloomfield Board of Education stand united in condemning any form of racism, prejudice or hatred within our community. We are deeply troubled by recent remarks involving this racially offensive language, which violates the core values ​​of respect, inclusion and equality we hold as a city and school district,” they said.

They went on to say that they are committed to ensuring that every member of our community feels safe, valued and respected.

The city and board of education are working with local and state police and federal authorities on the investigation.
