An 83-year-old woman dies in a crash on a NJ freeway

A woman died last week in a crash on a busy Middlesex County highway, authorities said Friday.

Around 3 p.m., Oct. 18, a 2012 Ford Mustang driven by a 32-year-old Williamstown man was eastbound on US 322-Black Horse Pike approaching Forest Drive in Monroe Township, according to to a release from the Monroe Township Police Department. .

At the same time, a 2016 Hyundai Elantra driven by an 83-year-old Williamstown woman was westbound on the highway approaching the same intersection. She tried to turn left onto Forest Drive, police said.

In the intersection, the front bumper of the Mustang struck the passenger side of the Hyundai, causing severe damage to that part of the car, the department said.

The woman driving the Hyundai, who has not been identified, died. The driver of the Mustang was not injured. He had not been charged as of Friday.

No other details about the accident have been released.
