A Florida surgeon accused of a fatal error in removing a liver has had his license suspended in Alabama

MIRAMAR BEACH, Fla. — The doctor accused of mistakenly removing a man’s liver recently had his Alabama medical license suspended.

WEAR News learned Friday that the Alabama Medical Licensing Commission ordered the summary suspension of Dr. Thomas Shaknovky’s license. His medical license in Florida it was suspended a few weeks ago.

Shaknovky is accused of removing William Bryan’s liver instead of his spleen during surgery at Ascension Sacred Heart Emerald Coast Hospital in August. Bryan died on the operating table.

Just this week, a new report from the medical administration was highlighted what happened in that operating room.
