Satellites capture devastation caused by Spanish floods (images)

At the end of October, torrential rain caused a series of floods in southern and eastern Spain – particularly affected regions include the Costa del Sol, home to the city of Malaga, as well as the eastern Spanish city of Valencia.

The basins of the Margo, Turia and Poyo rivers received massive inundation from the rainfall, creating floods that destroyed houses, streets, bridges and vehicles. More than 200 people have lost their lives, with many more still missing and thousands displaced. A year’s worth of rain fell in just eight hours on the coastal region of Valencia, according to Spain’s national weather agency. Aemet.
