KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) – An election night patrol in the Crossroads and River Market areas resulted in the recovery of five stolen vehicles, a large amount of drugs and several arrests.

Stolen vehicles, drugs and firearms were taken off the streets of Kansas City during election night law enforcement efforts in the Crossroads and River Market areas.

The Kansas City, Missouri Police Department says that on election night, Tuesday, Nov. 5, law enforcement officers took to the streets to investigate car thefts and other related crimes in the Crossroads, River Market and nearby areas.

Investigators said they focused on areas based on previous data and reports. A helicopter was able to track a vehicle that attempted to speed away from patrol vehicles on the ground, leading to several arrests.

During this stop, law enforcement said 1 stolen vehicle was recovered, 2 felons were found in possession of a firearm, 2 large bags of narcotics and 500 – 700 pills of what appeared to be oxycodone.

KCPD indicated that federal charges have been filed in connection with the stop. From the proactive effort of 33 car checks, officers recovered four other stolen vehicles, four stolen plates and two firearms.

Law enforcement officers said they are devoted to the metro area and will continue to serve faithfully. No other information has been released.
