Burn victim taken to hospital after fire in Simsbury

SIMSBURY, CT (WFSB) – A garage fire is under investigation on Quorn Hunt Road in Simsbury.

Police said one person was injured and suffered serious burns.

He was transported by ambulance and then airlifted to Hartford Hospital.

The injured man did not live at the home where the fire occurred, according to police.

“There was a victim who was burned. We’re still trying to figure out their connection to the house,” said Simsbury Fire Chief Todd Myers.

One car was engulfed in flames when crews arrived at the scene, firefighters said.

The fire spread both in the garage and in the yard of the home.

“We were able to contain the fire to the garage area and keep the doors closed so there was no smoke damage to the home,” Myers said.

The Simsbury Fire Marshal’s Office, the State Fire Marshal’s Office and Simsbury Police were investigating.

It is not known how the fire started.
