Puducherry, 16-year-old Mumbai girl raped by auto driver, later assaulted by four technicians

news about Puducherry: A 16-year-old girl, who had come to Puducherry from Mumbai with her parents to celebrate Diwali at her relative’s residence, was allegedly abducted and raped twice in a span of three days by the auto driver and tourists. The issue came to light after it was found on Puducherry Beach Road on November 1.

On October 31, the police started an investigation into the case based on a missing person complaint filed by the family.

According to the police, on October 30, the girl who had stayed with her parents at her relative’s residence left the house at night. She reportedly took the decision on her own after an argument with her parents, New Indian Express reported.

While leaving home, she found a car driven by Khawaja Moinuddin of Kottakuppam and told him to take her on a trip around Puducherry. However, Moinuddin fed her alcohol and took her to his house and raped her in Kottakuppam.

Later, he left her by the road at the Puducherry beach. However, again four tourists from Chennai saw her and befriended her with the promise of helping her and took her to their room and raped her one by one. They also kept her in jail for a day and then left her at the same place, Times of India reported.

On November 1, the police found her wandering on the beach road and informed her family. She was later taken to a hospital where doctors found signs of sexual assault. The girl then disclosed the sexual assault while interacting with the Child Welfare Board.

So far, the police have arrested four men, including an auto driver from Kotakuppam and three others from Chennai. Police are also looking for another man from Chennai, who is an alleged accused in the case. The arrested technicians were identified as Chitharanjan from Odisha and his colleagues Dinabandhu from Odisha, Ramesh from Telangana and Pankaj from Odisha.
