Man arrested after officer involved shooting in Ardmore

ARDMORE, Okla. (KXII) – Ardmore Police have released new details about a officer involved shooting at a gas station Thursday afternoon.

According to the department, officers stopped a vehicle with a passenger, Joshua Estrada, who had an outstanding warrant.

Police said Estrada gave them a fake ID, and when officers realized it, they asked him to get out of the vehicle.

Estrada made a comment to an officer that suggested he would hurt them to avoid arrest, and as officers attempted to arrest him, police said he made an open motion toward the officers.

The officers then fired several rounds at him.

He was taken to Exceptional Community Hospital in Ardmore where he was treated and released a short time later.

The driver of the vehicle and the officers were not injured and the officers were placed on routine administrative leave.

Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation agents later arrested Estrada for terroristic threats, possession of a controlled substance and the outstanding warrant.
