JOHNSON COUNTY — An Arkansas man who admitted his role in a violent knife attack in Kansas is headed to prison.

This week, Johnson County Judge Thomas M. Sutherland sentenced Amanjit Singh, 35, to nearly 24 years in prison for attempted first-degree murder, according to the Johnson County District Attorney’s office.

In September, Singh pleaded no contest to attempted first-degree murder. In June 2023, police responded to Stonebridge Liquors at W. 67th Street and Nieman Road in Shawnee. The victim told investigators that a man entered the liquor store while she was working and attacked her with a knife.

Court documents say Singh stabbed the victim multiple times.
