16-year-old killed, two others injured in separate shooting calls in Fort Worth

A 16-year-old boy was fatally shot by another child Tuesday night, Nov. 5, in what was reported to Fort Worth police as an accidental shooting.

Officers were called to a home in the 3500 block of Avenue L about 9:10 p.m. and found the teenager with a gunshot wound to the upper body, a police spokesman said. First responders attempted rescue measures, but the victim died on the spot.

The Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office identified the teenager as Demariion Henton. The cause and manner of his death are not yet listed.

Detectives interviewed the suspect, but no arrests were made. According to police, the juvenile suspect was wielding a handgun and told police he unloaded and shot Henton.

Homicide detectives are investigating the murder.

Police investigated a separate call about 8:35 p.m. near the intersection of East Bluff and North Hampton streets, northeast of downtown Fort Worth. A 911 caller reported a man with a rifle shooting in the area.

Investigators determined a man assaulted two female victims, fired a gun and then left the scene, police said. It’s unclear if anyone was shot, but one victim was taken to hospital with injuries and the other was treated by medics at the scene, the spokesman said. Both victims in this case are expected to survive.
