Three arrested in narcotics investigation

WALTON COUNTY, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) – Three people are facing drug charges and more than 100 grams of fentanyl is off the street following an investigation by the Walton County Sheriff’s Office.

Law enforcement officials said the two-month investigation led to a search warrant at 44 Angel Lane in Santa Rosa Beach. Investigators found fentanyl along with methamphetamine, nearly $3,000 and nine firearms.

Investigators said a serial number on one of the guns revealed it was stolen from Okaloosa County.

Following the search warrant, the following persons were detained:

  • Christian Michael Weafer, was charged with trafficking in fentanyl over 28 grams, possession of methamphetamine, grand theft of a firearm and possession of drug paraphernalia.
  • Daisy May Sherman was charged with trafficking in fentanyl over 28 grams, possession of methamphetamine, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, possession of ammunition by a convicted felon and possession of drug paraphernalia.
  • Joshua Michael Melcher was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia.

The dangerous threat these drugs pose is real, and while this is a victory, we are determined to continue the fight against drugs in our community.”

If convicted, Weafer and Sherman face a mandatory minimum sentence of 25 years for trafficking more than 28 grams of fentanyl, law enforcement officials said.
