Mesa police are identifying the people killed after a plane crashed and hit a car near Falcon Field

MESA, AZ (AZFamily) — Authorities have identified four of the five people who died after a plane crashed at a Mesa airport and hit a car late Tuesday afternoon.

The accident happened around 16:45 Greenfield and McKellips roadsjust southwest of Falcon Field Airport.

A Honda HA-420 jet crashed at the airport and appears to have slid through a fence before striking a vehicle outside airport property.

Five people were on board the plane, four of whom died on the spot.

They were identified as:

  • Spencer Lindahl, 43
  • Rustin Randall, 48
  • Drew Kimball, 44
  • Graham Kimball, 12

Sources confirmed to the Arizona family that Randall was the pilot. The group was reportedly flying to Provo, Utah.

Mesa Police say one person on the plane survived and is hospitalized with burns.

The driver of the vehicle also died in the fiery crash but has not been identified as next of kin notifications are ongoing.

Greenfield Road is still closed in both directions from McKellips to McDowell as of Wednesday morning. Police are asking drivers to use caution in the area as investigators are on the scene.

It is not clear what led to the accident.

The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) is leading the investigation into the accident.
