Khammam: A regional forensic science laboratory emerged Khammam to provide services in four districts.

Police Commissioner Sunil Dutt said that the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) of the state, which has made steady progress in the field of scientific research in providing reliable scientific services in the administration of the criminal justice system.

Regional FSL services would be available for Khammam district as well as Kothagudem, Mahabubabad and Suryapet districts. The old public relations office building in Jubilee Pura district has been renovated to set up the forensic laboratory, he said.

In cases of murder, rape and extortion, knowing the cause of death under suspicious circumstances is the most important aspect of the criminal investigation. In such cases, the medical officer used to examine the dead body, take out body parts like blood, brain, lungs, kidneys and others to send to Warangal Forensic Science Laboratory for testing.

Now, the testing of such body parts from the above four districts could be done in Khammam to speed up the investigation of the crime. Police officers in the four districts should avail the services of the forensic laboratory, Dutt noted.
